Primers for silicone from WACKER

WACKER and Parker LORD primers can be used as adhesion promoters between silicone elastomers and other materials such as metals, glass and thermoplastics.

On materials that are difficult to bond because of their low surface energy, primers from Wacker and Parker LORD support the bonding performance of the adhesives. Which materials have a low surface energy? Surface energy is the energy needed when at least two different surfaces are joined, in order to break the chemical bonds and form a new surface. High-energy materials such as metal, wood and glass form excellent bonds with the adhesive. Bonding becomes more complicated on low-energy substrates, which mainly include plastics (e.g. PP (polypropylene), PET (polyethylene terephthalate), PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) or PE (polyethylene)).

Certain surface coatings such as powder coatings, waxes or nano-sealants can also greatly reduce the properties of high-energy materials.

WACKER primers

These primers can be used for RTV-1, RTV-2, LSR and HTV silicones. Different solutions are available depending on the curing system and substrate. Further dilution in organic solvents is possible.

Parker LORD primers

The LORD 7701 adhesion promoter improves the adhesion of epoxy, polyurethane and silicone-based adhesives. It modifies the surface of polymers and improves their bondability. Not suitable for metal surfaces.

LORD AP-134 is particularly suitable for use on materials such as architectural and automotive glass, steel, aluminium, brass, uncoated metal, glass fabric, ceramics, concrete and some plastics. Special feature: for most applications only a single coat is required.
